”The official UK400 Club/British Birding Association Definitive List of Birds recorded in Britain and Ireland is now available for download, please submit your completed version following the instructions. The British Birding Association Definitive List is in Microsoft Excel format, Please note you may receive a warning that the file you are about to open uses macro’s, this is correct, you can elect to open with macro’s allowed or disabled as the worksheet functions fully eitherway, the macro is only used to aid updating of master list file.
The official UK400 Club/British Birding Association Definitive List includes 646 ‘countable’ species, including all species recorded in the zoogeographical region that comprises Ireland, the Isle of Man, St Kilda, the Outer Hebrides, the Shetland Islands, Fair Isle, Orkney, all of Britain and the Isles of Scilly (the Channel Islands are excluded and considered part of France). It includes seabird records and ‘At Sea’ records 120 miles west of Porthgwarra and St Kilda, 50 miles north and east of Shetland and 12 miles out to sea from land bases elsewhere around the coastline. It also includes introduction species, with self-supporting populations of 40-10,000 breeding pairs, as well as all records of ship-assisted vagrants, unless that species was kept in confinement during transit. The taxonomy follows that of Evans and is based on the phylogenetic species concept (PSC)”
