Brown Skua

Following the detailed analysis of skua DNA retrieved from three potential Brown Skuas in Britain (and accepted as such on previous works and based on moult strategies, etc), the species has now been removed from the UK400 Club British & Irish List. Notwithstanding the fact that Brown Skua may in fact be part of the Great Skua ’superspecies’, further analysis of isotopes has concluded that no direct links can be made with ‘Brown Skuas’ of the Southern Hemisphere.
